1. Is treatment with the laser safe?
Laser Hair Removal treatment is very safe for the skin. There are many advances in the Sonata technology that makes it one of the safest laser hair removal systems available for all skin colors. There are no long term health hazards from light used in the Sonata. .
2. How do I prepare for my Laser Hair Removal treatment?
You will get best results by avoiding tanning before and during your treatment. You also need to avoid waxing and plucking of the hair for 2-4 weeks prior to treatment. Simply shave the area prior to your appointment for optimal treatment results.
3. How frequently do I need treatments?
Laser Hair Removal treatments are usually performed every 6 weeks, but this depends on individual factors that we will discuss with you during your consultation.
4. What kind of results can I expect from my laser hair removal?
Each treatment will result in less hair coming back, as well as hair growing progressively lighter in color, finer and slower-growing with each treatment. It takes more than 1 treatment to affect all of the follicles growing in an area. Most people achieve satisfactory clearance after 4-6 treatments, but individual results vary. Lighter colored hair may require more treatments than darker hair.

5. Does the treatment hurt?
The sensation is often described as a "hot pinch" or "snapping" feeling. The sensation only lasts for a fraction of a second and you may feel warmth or a tingling sensation for a short time afterward. At Via Medical Day Spa, we also use the popular Zimmer Cooler which blows cold air on the skin during your treatment enhancing your comfort. The Sonata laser is also equipped with contact cooling as well.
6. What happens after each treatment?
Temporary pinkness in the skin lasts a very short time and most people return to work or normal activities immediately after treatment. The treated area will "shed" some hairs over the next 3 to 4 weeks and you may experience a period of hairlessness in the area while you wait for your next treatment.
7. Who should get Sonata laser hair removal?
Anyone who wants a solution to shaving, waxing, plucking or electrolysis. The Sonata laser is approved for all Fitzpatrick skin types (I-VI). In comparison the popular Alexandrite laser is approved only for skin types I-III.
